Can I swim with my

It is best if you don't because there are bacteria in the
water that can adhere to your lenses and cause infections. If

and you should disinfect them immediately afterwards

prescription to order contacts?
Yes. In most cases your prescription is good for one year. If
your prescription is valid you may order up to a years supply of

experiencing NO problems whatsoever ordering a years supply of
lenses prior to prescription expiration is a good way to avoid
an office visit. You may also order using the prescription

lens package. This info together with the manufacturer (ie.
Ciba) and product name (ie. Focus) is all you will need to
complete your order.
May I order my

Can I order a few
pairs of contacts at a time to have them available in case I
lose or damage one?
Yes, you'll most likely experience loss of or damage to a
contact from time to time. It's always a good idea to have a
backup set of contacts, especially true if you're going on
vacation. Unopened contacts will keep for a set period of time
and have an expiration date on the box or vial past which they
shouldn't be used. Unlike other companies, including some of the
big ones, all our lenses are good for two years or longer.
Ordering more than one or two lenses will also save money on
postage by not having to reorder as frequently.

Direct delivery to your door, lower prices and faster
service. Gayatri Opticals sells more contact lenses than 2,500 retail
optical stores - but we only have one location. With the largest
inventory of contact lenses, we are able to stock most of the
parameters that customers order - with very few exceptions.
Most contact lenses aren't custom made anymore. Daily wear
and disposable contact lenses are made by automated equipment in
very large quantities on heavily automated production lines. As
a medical device, they must be nearly identical every time - no
matter where they are sold.
You will receive the exact same contact lenses from Gayatri
Opticals as you have been getting from your eye care provider's
store - the only difference is the delivery to your door (and
the lower price).
If you are already going to a large national optical chain,
or a really competitive optical store, you may find that you
only save huge rs by ordering from Gayatri Opticals. Don't
forget to include the time you saved by not making another trip
to the store.
Gayatri Opticals will also keep your prescription, address,
and billing information on file. If you move, or if you are
traveling and need more contact lenses, Gayatri Opticals can
have replacements to you as soon as possible.
Gayatri Opticals sells more contacts than the next five
largest direct competitors combined. There is a reason. We keep
things simple and we deliver on our promises. We don't charge
membership fees and we don't use gimmicks to attract new
customers.
It's pretty simple high volume, low overhead, and focus on
contact lenses.

High Volume:
The average eye care provider's retail store usually sees
only a few contact lens wearers every day. The typical store
usually has to save up orders for a few days or even a couple of
weeks in order to get any quantity discounts from distributors
or manufacturers.
Low overhead:
It would take more than 2,000 retail optical locations to
sell as many contacts as Gayatri Opticals Rent isn't cheap and
someone has to pay for it. Until now, that someone was the
customer.
Gayatri Opticals offers consistently low prices, quantity
discounts, and the best possible level of service whether you
are ordering online.

Does a customer need
his/her prescription to place an order?
Yes. Gayatri Opticals requires a valid prescription for every
customer's order. Customers can obtain a copy from their eye
care provider and forward it to Gayatri Opticals or they can simply give Gayatri Opticals their
prescription information. After the customer provides Gayatri
Opticals with the prescription information, Gayatri Opticals
will then attempt to contact the eye care provider to verify
that the prescription is accurate and has not expired.
Goto Top ^
How does a customer
know if his/her prescription is still valid?
Most prescriptions are valid for one year or two years
depending on the state one lives in. Gayatri Opticals is an
advocate of proper eye health and encourages its customers to
receive regular eye examinations. If a customer's prescription
is expiring or has already expired, a customer service agent
will remind the customer to visit his/her eye care provider for
an exam and to receive a new or updated prescription.

Is my Eye Doctor
required to give me a copy of my contact lens prescription?
ALL Eye Doctors EVERYWHERE in the entire U.S. are now
REQUIRED by federal law to give you a copy of your contact lens
prescription without any additional charge and without your even
asking!
Ask whomever you go to for your contact fitting BEFORE making
an appointment if they will provide you with trial lenses for
your fitting (which they get free) and provide you with a copy
of your prescription so you may get your lenses from whomever
you wish, hopefully here, without forcing you to buy your
contacts from them. Ask specifically for Ciba or Bausch & Lomb
or whichever lenses you want. Only these companies allow their
entire line of lenses to be sold on-line. Johnson & Johnson's
Acuvues are withheld from Internet companies in order try to
force you to buy them from your doctor. Of course the doctors
know these lenses are hard to obtain and J&J makes certain the
doctors know as it is these particular lenses MAJOR selling
point. In reality J&J's lenses are no different from lenses
available from the other manufacturers; no better and, according
to our customers, the torics are worse (too much movement). It's
your money, don't be intimidated. The doctor is there to help,
if the first one won't there are many others who will.

My perscription says
OD and OS, which is my right contact and which is my left
contact?
OD is the right contact and OS is the left contact. Although
from the manufacturers point of view there is no "left" and
"right" contact, a contact is made to a particular prescription
and can be used in either eye, as long as you order contacts for
both eyes it doesn't matter which prescription you put in OD or
OS, your contacts will still fit. If your contacts do not have
an OD or OS designation on your prescription your right contact
is usually the one listed first.
Is a contact lens
prescription different than a glasses prescription?
Yes. When you order contact lenses, you must have a current
contact lens prescription which specifies the power of the
lenses, the size of the lens, the type and brand of lens. See
also How to Read a Contact Lens Prescription.
Goto Top ^
Do I still need a
prescription if I just want contacts to change my eye color?
Yes, you still need to be fitted for the lenses even if you
don't need vision correction. This is because contact lenses are
medical devices and wearing them can affect the health of
May I order colored
contacts without a prescription?
No, everyone's eyes are a different size and shape so you
have to get the proper lens for your eyes. Colored contacts also
need to be matched to your eye, skin and hair color, if you
don't try the lens first you won't be sure how it'll look;
better to get it right then to have lenses you can't use but if
you don’t have number, you can go for plano number(without
numbered) colour contact lenses.

Why is it necessary
for contact lens wearers to have regular eye exams even if their
prescription hasn't changed?
Regular eye exams are important not only to check your
prescription but also to evaluate the health of your eyes. This
is especially important for contact lens wearers because the
contacts could be causing damage to your eyes without
necessarily causing any obvious symptoms..

I wear contact lenses
and in order for me to read, I have to wear reading glasses over
them. Are there any other alternatives whereby I don't have to
wear glasses at all?
Yes, the most common option is called monovision where one
eye is corrected for viewing distant objects and the other eye
is corrected for reading and close work. Monovision is a good
solution for some people, but not everbody can successfully
adapt to the arrangement. Another alternative is bifocal contact
lenses. However, these are typically very expensive. Recently,
however, Johnson and Johnson have released the Acuvue Bifocal
which is a two-week disposable lens and is more reasonably
priced.
Goto Top ^
If my 2 week
disposable lenses are still comfortable and in good condition
beyond 2 weeks, can I continue to wear the same pair?
In order to maintain optimal eye health and comfort, it is
important to adhere to the wearing schedule prescribed by your
doctor. The main advantage of wearing disposable lenses is that
you are putting a fresh new pair of lenses in your eyes every 2
weeks. Also, the convenient cleaning regimen of a disposable
lens is only adequate for a 2 week wearing schedule.
If I only wear my 2
week disposable contacts part time, do I still have to replace
them every 2 weeks?
No, the 2 weeks refers to the actual amount of wearing time
so they can last longer than 2 weeks if you are not wearing them
full time.
Goto Top ^
I am contemplating
using contact lenses for the first time. Can I use the new 30
day lenses (24 hrs per day for 30 days) and do you carry them?
Only your doctor can tell you what you can wear, however
unless you have a medical condition which prevents you for
wearing them they should work fine. The B&L Purevision and the
Ciba Focus Night and Day lenses are the only lenses approved for
30 day continuous wear. We carry both.
What are Toric lenses

Can I wear soft
contact lenses if I have astigmatism?
Yes, you can wear a special type of soft contact lens called
a toric lens which will correct your astigmatism. However, these
lenses are typically more expensive and there are fewer types
and colors available than there are with regular (spherical)
lenses. Recently, Wesley-Jessen introduced a 2-week disposable
toric lens, the Freshlook Toric. Several manufacturers including
Ciba (Focus) produce 1-3 month frequent replacement toric
lenses.
What is an
astigmatism?
A visual defect in which the unequal curvature of one or more
refractive surfaces of the eye, usually the cornea, which
prevents light rays from focusing clearly at one point on the
retina, resulting in blurred vision. Contacts to correct for
astigmatism are called "Toric" lenses.

Are colored contacts
made for people who need bifocals or for people with
astigmatism?
No, at present bifocals are not made in colors and Yes, they
do make colored contacts for people with astigmatism, they're
called toric lenses. Ciba makes Freshlook Colorblends Toric
disposable lenses in boxes of six.
Do you give free
samples of colored or clear contact lenses?
We do not offer samples.
May I order colored
contacts without a prescription?
yes, Colored contacts also need to be matched to your eye,
skin and hair color, if you don't try the lens first you won't
be sure how it'll look; you can go for plano number(without
