How to read your prescription?
Prescription are usually written in the
Following Format
Prescription
(Right eye) OD: +2.00
(Left eye) OS: -0.50
(This means only Sphere )
OD means Right Eye
OS means Left Eye
From Left to your Right
Sphere, Cylinder,
Axis
OD: +2.00 -1.25 x 10
OS: -0.50
(This means there is an Astigmatism requirement
in OD/Right eye)
Or, A Mixture of Both one eye is with
astigmatism only
(OD is with Astigmatism and OS is without):
'PL' or 'PLANO', it just means that there is No
Power or 0,00DS in that Part of the Prescription. If you do not understand ANY part of your prescription, please
call us to ensure everything is entered correctly. Don't be shy;
we are happy to help, and we want your glasses to be made
exactly to your doctor's specifications. Your doctor may use a blank Rx pad, not a pre-made Rx pad for
eyeglasses only. If this is the case, you can draw imaginary
grid-lines to separate the numbers. It will separate the
different values more easily for you. The top power is always
the right eye & the bottom power is always the left. If you have no astigmatism in one or both eyes, your doctor may
just write the sphere power alone, or may use place holders like
sph ("sphere") or D.S. ("diopters sphere") instead.
If you have a prescription for bifocals, and you only see one
ADD power, it's understood that you have the same ADD for both
eyes. If you don't see an ADD power, leave it blank. If you still do not understand ANY part of your prescription,
please contact us to ensure everything is entered correctly.

shortsightedness. Example:

My prescription doesn't have
anything written for CYL or AXIS or ADD. What should I enter?
You can leave those fields blank. Cylinder and
Axis are for astigmatism correction. If your doctor didn't write
it in, you don't have to either. The Add power is for people
(typically over 40) who now have different prescriptions for
distance and near vision. Younger people don't have trouble up
close with their distance prescription on, so their Add is
technically zero; in actuality, it's just not written at all. If
you don't have an add on your Rx, or if you want distance-only
glasses, leave those fields blank.
My prescription
is outside the listed available range. Can I still get
high-quality eyeglasses at similar savings?
Yes! Special orders, like very high
prescriptions are handled on a case-by-case basis. For a price
quote for your Rx, or for a lens type not listed on the website,
please contact us.
Can I get
discount prescription sunglasses?
Yes, you can get any of our frames made into
discount prescription sunglasses. As a matter of fact our frames
can be ordered online as prescription (or non-prescription)
sunglasses. Better yet we can make bifocal sunglasses also.
What type of lenses do
you use in your eye glasses? Are the glasses authentic brand
name products?
Absolutely! We sell only
authentic brand name glasses. We do not sell imitation or fake
glasses.
Can I just order
frames/lenses with no prescription in them?
Yes! You'll need to enter PLANO for the sphere (SPH)
powers, so we don't think you "just forgot" to enter any
prescription at all.
What are the
index of refractions for your lenses?
CR39 Hard-Resin = 1.49 Polycarbonate Lenses = 1.59
Super-High Index Lenses = 1.67
Tips On Caring for
Your Eyeglasses
Keep your lenses clean by washing
them twice daily in warm water or with special lens cleaner. Dry
them with a soft cotton towel or special eyeglass cleaning
cloth. When not wearing your glasses, keep them in their
protective case. Never rest them face down on their lenses.
Always put on or take off your glasses with
both hands, grabbing the temples midway on each side and sliding
them backwards over your ears. This will help them keep their
adjustment longer. Don't wipe your lenses while they are dry.
Wash or blow off dust or grit instead. Never use paper products
to wipe glasses as they can scratch the lens. Never use silicone
tissues on plastic lenses. |
